Perspective Takes Flight

The wingspan of a B-52 is 185ft. The Orville Wright's first flight at Kitty Hawk was 120ft.

Used to love driving 820 NW when those BUFFs would be on final to Carswell - what an awesome sight!

It's also fun to see all the folks using the wings as sunshade at the Alliance airshows.

Funny to think of all the jet aircraft that've come & gone since the Stratofortress: B-58 Hustler, F-111 Aardvark, Phantom II, Tomcat - and yet it soldiers (airmans?) on.

And besides, without the B-52s, where would we have come to learn about Rock Lobsters and Love Shacks?

R- Whoa, hadn't heard that one before. I started to click over and gooogle it but I remembered the length of the flight was correct and the wingspan sounded about right so yeah, how's that for some perspective?!

Don- You got that right. I still remember seeing them on line from the overlook. An old GF's dad spent 24 hours on that line with his 52 running after JFK's death. A truck would come by so often with fuel and another with food and coffee.
Ha, what a classic. One of my old APCs was called The Love Track... What, I'm not supposed to talk about that!
