One day when you get the chance watch Buster Keatons The General. It's sometimes considered one of the best movies ever made- and it's nearly one hundred years old. The locomotive ended up in a gorge during filming and stayed there as a local curiosity until WWII when it was hauled out for scrap.

That is one of the greatest movies ever made. The fact that the star (Buster Keaton) also did all of his own stunts and didn't get killed in the process is amazing.
Another great silent film with some amazing stunt work is Wings (1927). Check it out if you get the chance. It won the very first Oscar for Best Picture.
