Roy's widow was on one of the morning drive time radio shows recently - I didn't realize he'd been gone over 20 years.

PBS also had some kind of documentary on awhile back, some of which featured anecdotes about shows that Orbison did with the Rolling Stones.

In the mid-'70s, I became a fan of the other west Texas pioneer rock-n-roller, Charles Hardin Holley, partly from all the Peter Asher produced artists doing his covers: Ronstadt, James Taylor. Also from the 1978 Gary Busey biopic, and from acquiring a collection of Holly records.

My first job out of high school was working for a bank in the Metroplex where Maria Elena H. Diaz was one of our customers, about 20 years after Clear Lake. She was a very nice lady.

Fact checking for this comment, I learned that Orbison for a time opened for the band of the premier east Texas songwriter/singer's band, formed in 1971. But I am given to understand you're not so much a fan of Mr. Henley as I am.
