Ya know, if I had some kind of acrylic dome, about 10-12' in diameter, it would be way cool to sleep outside in a rainstorm (so long, I suppose, as the dome doesn't attract lightning strikes...).
Congratulations on braving the, uh, really extreme elements of north Texas in September. Surely there's some kind of merit badge or patch for that, no? Like a curled up golden retriever, or an oppossum or something? ;-)
Sports Authority has a good sale going on camping gear. I was tempted to by a North Face backpacking tent made for four. it wasn't on sale but, a good price at 200 bucks. it had aluminum poles and real good warranty. the Coleman i bought was normally 100 dollars paid 74 and the sleeping bag paid 30- regularly 80. i like it especially. it's good down to 0 degrees, flannel lined and real big, the cover built into it is a real heavy canvas. it should last me the rest of my life. or until i find something cooler- on sale!
Oh what fun........ hope you had a double zip on the door so that snakes and bugs didnt get in LOL.....
We have so many tents in this house, I could of send you one, it would of been doing me a favour LOL.... you could of had me pink flowery one :)
and a north face tent for 4 for just $200 WOW....... bloody wow....
Our Jacob aint long come back from a survival bivi camp where they have to make their own shelter and live in it for a week in the new forest.... with the marines.... with all the night hikes and river wadding walks in the middle of the night etc..... he loves all that.... I do always pack our army waterproof breathable bivi bag in his rucksack though for emergencies LOL
Your children will remember your garden camping for ever...... mine still remember the times we have pitched the tent in the garden and sometimes in the house to camp LOL
