Wednesday's Digressions

  • Something I have done that you have not- fencing.
  • This Is War by 30 Seconds To Mars.
  • Full Size BLT COBB salad and a lg. order of fires from Wendy's. It's what's for lunch.
  • At my last patients house there were 6 dogs, at least as many cats and 5 hardcore smokers. My eyes are still bloodshot and my face red and puffy. I had to turn down another case for tonight because I look and feel bad and sound so cruddy. Some people's stupid addiction cost me hundreds of dollars. The cost to our economy for smoking is incalculable. My patient was also a hardcore smoker and lived to be 95 years old- I have never seen that happen before. Smokers don't take heart- his last years were miserable years.
  • Last night (08/24/2013)  I literally bumped into an old girlfriend while out with FG. I said Hi very politely and quickly turned away to indicate there would be no further interaction. I am literally ashamed of myself but it would have hurt FGs feelings to interact with woman formerly known as girlfriend.
  • It's not survivors guilt or whatever they call it, but I do wonder why I lived through the war. On part of the route I cleared a hundred times there was an IED hole every couple of feet for 75 yards or more. The insurgents started just plopping the bombs in an old hole and kicking sand on top of it. There were multiple hulks of blown up trucks and trailers drug over into the desert in the short distance we usually patrolled. The Marines greatest loss of life in an IED attack happened just outside of our battlespace. I saw the blast. They brought the Amtrak to our base. It smelled like firecrackers, old barbecue grill and burned rubber.

It is named in honor of Bob Cobb, the owner of The Brown Derby in Hollywood. The legend is that Cobb had not eaten until near midnight, and so he had them mix together all the leftovers in the kitchen with French dressing. It became the Brown Derby's signature dish.

Chain-link, picket, or barbed wire? I have done two of those.

On-guard, if I remember correctly, is the place you can stand where the cows can't.

The poster mis-spelled 'sammich'.

Just sayin'...
