Monday's Missives

When The Flags Are Furled And The Bugles Fade was to be the title of my autobiography. Someone said,"It's taken." though. Drats.

  • The kind of stuff I like that you won't.

  • When a male patients dementia leads to violence they become the victims of same (or neglect) when staff finds them too hard to deal with and when I assume responsibility for their care they are often filthy, poorly groomed and have undiagnosed skin problems. I don't deserve the credit because they are more passive by the time our paths collide, but it's my thing to get them assessed, fixed up and dressed nice etc. A patient once had a nearly full beard- he looked like a derelict. The family wasn't around so I didn't know whether to leave him an awesome stache or not so I squared him away and left one any porn star or fireman would be proud of.

  • "Do you think Kevin will be mad?" The question his dear 93 year old wife asked when she couldn't take it anymore and had someone shave it off.

  • No, of course not my dear, but The Mustache Club Of America will be losing one of our oldest and most respected members.

  • I do dream about the war (rarely though) and sometimes it is the funny stuff like the time I caught my friend Joe cutting a smiley face into our LTs hair,

  • Oddly, I seem to dream fairly often about WWI- a war I've read about some, but nothing like WWII and forward to modern theory and history.

  • "You don't seem like the settling down type anyway." - a recent text.

* I liked the music but hated the screaming of the Dropkick Murphy video.

* Typically, I prefer mustaches to be attached to a neatly cropped/sculpted beard or goatee.

* Most men are insufferable asses, for the most part, it is just a part of being a guy. The difference between Mr. Right and Mr. Right For Now is that Mr. Right never acts like an insufferable ass toward the woman he loves.

* I hate, with the burning ferocity of a tire fire in Hell, shopping. Going to Costco and Lowe's/Home Depot, during the week, is NOT shopping it is an adventure.

Saw The Killers in concert. They did the first four songs off of their cd in order. We were wondering if they were playing at all or if we were just listening to the cd as they stood there. They were that good.

The sweet husband likes to have a mustache just to completely drive me craaaazy.

The text message made me laugh. Out loud.

I think KLUV dropped "I'm Shipping Up to Boston" from heavy rotation.

Probably had enough of the bagpipe and banjo genre already...
