Wednesday's Digressions

• Whitecentric radio stations play ads for investment opportunities, foundation repair companies, lake lots and pills to make your weiner either harder or longer.
• Blackcentric radio stations play ads for payday loan places, payday loan relief places, cel phone plans, personal injury lawyers and night clubs.
• This past weekend (today is 11/14/2016) the only productive things I did were laundry and clean the kitchen- otherwise I slept and watched Teh Walking Dead.
• Perfect.
• The always comes out as teh the first time I type it.
• Finally I tried Tastykake brand buttered iced cupcakes. Verdict: good to very good.
• The front desk staff where I work gave me a cookie with a flag made of red, white and blue icing on it for Veteran's Day.
• Nice.
• This past weekend I watched Shut In. It was literally terrible. My date took it personally that I recognized it as a terrible movie. 
• Odd.
• The theater had the reclining electric seats though- very nice. I wanted to take a nap there.
• From the Blogfather: "If someone condescendingly says, "We live in a Republic, not a Democracy!" I'm guessing that's about the only thing they know about government." If I disagreed with virtually everything he says- I could not argue that point. He is absolutely correct in that assessment.

Monday's Missives

• 1 ex wife, 2 business associates and at least 3 girlfriends- as of this writing the breakdown of people who have seen the Random Thoughts Girls on Barry's blog and thought they busted me watching pron.
• Good grief.
• I am looking (somewhat halfhearted) for another job.
• A homeless  patient I saw this morning is an interesting guy. He reported (and I tend to believe)he was a medical student at Galveston in the days of his youth but he had a series of transient ischemic attacks and was unable to complete his studies. I know they all have a story- I have seen supposed lawyers with poop smeared in their hair and have met homeless secret government agents by the score but I tend to believe him.
• The other day (today is 12/14/2016) I gave a homeless person a bunch of good winter clothing- for the second winter in a row. Interestingly, part of the gesture involved brand new still in the wrappers long Johns that my ex mother in law gave me 15 (at least) years ago. There are multiple object lessons in that part of the story.
• General homeless persons categories: Campers- they sleep in tents or ad hoc shelters for extended periods. Street people: They sleep where they pass out- literally on the street, vacant lot or maybe occasionally an abandoned building. Shelter people: They live uh, in a shelter for homeless persons.
• If you are in the market for a good used truck I will have one available after December 28 as I intend to win a new Infinity Q30 from the Normathon benefiting Austin Street Center.
• I have it all figured out don't I? Here I am just sitting here rocking back and forth wanting all that new car...

Mondays Missives

Not a Marilyn fanatic per se but, yeah she rawked

• From a for sale by owner used car ad. I felt like I had been beaten just reading that and can not imagine what it would be like to meet and speak with that person.

• Iowa is sanctioning homosexual marriage. Interestingly, Iowa has always been a quiet leader in civil rights from desegregation to women's rights issues.




• Do you think in same sex relationships there is always one taking a more feminine and one taking a more masculine role?




• One of my friends aunts was a lesbian. She did her own mechanic work on her hot rod Mustang, wore steel toe boots, wife beater shirts and even wore men's underwear (honestly) She would always have little cutey girlfriends.




• It freaked me out when I learned what girlfriend meant in that context and female family members or church ladies later would say,"Me and a girlfriend..."




• I burned my leg on the side pipe of that Mustang once.

Wednesdays Digressions

• Nancy Pelosi looks at least 15 years older since debate over the bailout started. I don't know for sure if I'm right on that assessment or what it may mean if I am but, it seems true in multiple pictures I've seen. I've got a sneaking suspicion though I'm correct and this thing is keeping her up at night.


• A guy I know in Decatur has a blog called Liberally Lean at http://skattershooting.blogspot.com/ recently he said something to the effect,"Obama stopped smiling about 6 weeks ago." Man, he's right and again I don't know what it may mean but, it's true and it's obviously so.


• The school shooting in Finland was followed by the predictable headline within 24 hours Gun ban mulled in Finland in wake of school shooting. Bad situations make for bad laws is an old, applicable truism. Finland is second in the world behind the US in private gun ownership.


• I applied for a part time job the other day to get me out of the house and prevent starvation and homelessness. I got the job-flexible schedule, good pay, they gave me a set of high quality scrubs when conversationally I mentioned I would need to get some and in the breakroom was a 4 ft. stack of cases of energy drinks, bottled water and sodas. I can handle this.


• The baby spent his first day in day care and has been sick as a dog with flu symptoms, I haven't slept more than a couple of hours in the past 2 nights. I think it was too quick for incubation time- probably a coincidence.


• Cool mornings get me charged up and I feel like I can accomplish anything. Soon enough we'll be whining about how cold it is daydreaming aloud about next summer- going to the lake, getting out on the boat etc. Then we'll be whining about the heat wondering aloud what it feels like in the more northern states," Have you ever been snow skiing?" we'll say then winter will roll around...
• My spell checker has lost its mind, it just started missing obviously misspelled words and hi lighting random words and in one case turning the letters yellow instead of hi lighting the word.
