Somehow, I have not encountered, in the wild, a copperhead snake, to my knowledge.
When I was a kid, our Metroplex (before the term was coined, I think) neighbors had a ranch (actually about a 1/3 section) southwest of Jackistan (h/t RPM), northwest of Barton's Chapel - just north of where the line of wind turbines is today.
Whilst riding my Suzuki 80 along the cowpaths criss-crossing the property, a rattlesnake once lunged at the front tire of said scooter.
