  • It is 05/04/2018 at 0717 and has been pouring rain for hours.
  • A favorite cover  of a favorite  song: Bush Wild Horses.
  • For some reason the Elton John song Bennie and the Jets has been playing in a loop in my brain for the past 72 hours.
  • My friend who had plastic surgery done asked me if I wanted to see the pictures right after she had the surgery. I told her yes but she has changed her mind and won't send them to me as they're so heinous.
  • The food in a pound for pound- dollar for dollar kind of way at R and K Cafe is probably the best I have ever had.
  • Dollar defaulted with a capitol d up there for some reason.
  • Recently a holiday weekend happened to coincide with a vacation which also sadly happened to coincide with me being real sick. I'd actually made some plans but yeah- again since being sick those plans were cancelled and I laid around the house for over a week. When I started feeling better and needed survival supplies I would drop by the local Dollar General. This happened several times during that week. My guess is you could not overstate the effect of what we call the opioid epidemic as essentially everyone there was under the influence. The only guy who looked sober made up for it by having a woman hanging all over him who was so skulled out- she didn't know which end was up.
  • Good night world. I love you in spite of yourself.

Thursday's Thoughts

  • Did Denny Crane die? I did not comment very often but I always enjoyed reading his blog and reading his comments here.
  • This weekend is the opening of Scarborough Fair.
  • Recently a hot friendly acquaintance suffered a loss in her life. As she told me about it she started crying so I nearly started crying. As she was leaving I put my arms out to hug her of course- as one does. As she put her arms around me she gave me the two cheek Hollywood kiss. It was weird- I've never experienced that before.
  • Bonus kissing story: an outside contractor where I work and I are pretty good friends. We at least always say we're going to interact out of work and we text often during off duty hours. On the same day I got the Hollywood treatment I saw the contractor lady for the first time in a long time. I happened to be sitting down as she came to hug me to tell me goodbye. She kissed me on top of the head.
  • Pretty good day I guess.
  • Recently I saw a clip from a news show that had a lady talking to some guy who is selling memberships in a survival club. I guess it was like a timeshare for people who want to be ready for a post apocalyptic dystopian world or whatever. He started off by saying that when the breakdown of society comes there will be roving gangs of criminals etc etc. To her credit she nearly busted out laughing.
  • Vintage Grill and Taco Cabana in Weatherford aside from a Dennys in Killeen Texas may be the nastiest restaurants I have ever been in my life.
  • Gag.
  • Tommy Boy reminded me of the late great Harry Nilsson.

Monday's Missives

My guess is 100% people write Murphy when taking this street name verbally and it is presumed the person saying Morphy has a speech impediment.

  • Zac just called me to let me know that we're under severe thunderstorm warning with large damaging hail.
  • Here it comes. Wow it is black.
  • Recently I saw a police officer involved shooting video. It was interesting because the guy that got shot turned around and started running backwards toward the cop.
  • Cop friends told me years ago that this happens. People find it hard to believe but yeah- I've known about it for years.
  • The idea of making my own knife at least once in my life intrigues me.
  • Our server at Olive Garden last night was not wired to be a server.
  • She was competent but nerve wracking.
  • I have way too many movies that I will never watch again.
  • Clara Smith It's Tight Like That.

Thursday's Thoughts

Earbud set we were issued for listening to training modules during compliance and ethics training week. It may just be me-but that motto seems vaguely threatening and definitely not reassuring.

  • When I was a boy I would save my money to buy Hot Rod magazine subscriptions. My brother who was really looking out for me and wanted to see me be a better or more sophisticated person I suppose or whatever got me a subscription to Car and Driver.
  • What is a dream car of yours that would surprise people?
  • The Caddy Escala is beautiful and amazing and is now also on my list of dream cars.
I mixed this with some Ramen type noodles. It sustained life and nothing worse happened to me the rest of the day I suppose
  • I've mentioned dodging a bullet regarding an old girlfriend who left me before things could get serious enough to get married. I've also mentioned that a mutual friend saw her once years later and told me about how beat up and bad-looking the same ex was and how she didn't age well and all of that. Friend must have saw the ex on a bad day or been mistaken or was trying to make me feel better. Ex looks great and is still super pretty and in fact- she's nearly 50 years old and probably looks better than she did when we were together.
I always liked this guy- he seemed like a pretty good ole boy. We called him The Breeze. It was a nickname within a very tight circle so I presume it didn't catch on at all otherwise. He got the name based on a Lynyrd Skynyrd song. His obituary reported his official nickname being Pop A Top. I think the obit said he was 52.
  • My son texted me last night with pictures of an immature red tailed hawk. He says he sees it every night near his hotel where he is working out of state. Interestingly, he also told me that he sees them all the time nearly every day from the towers that he climbs. Even more interesting? He said he sees them catching snakes all the time. I know that they specialize in hunting snakes but the crazy thing is he says more often than not he sees them with a snake and it was strange to see them not catch one.
I spend a little more time hiking around Sunshine Lake than I have the past as I still love the outdoors but I can't get around to new and bigger places as well as I could in the past. There is always a ton of dead stuff around there. It may just be that is the way it is but I could also be convinced there is some type of super predator that has moved into the area that animals there are not ready to defend against. Yes- I know this animal may died of a heart attack and been eaten by possums but I see remains in the same general area around there all the time.
  • Recently I created a word from a combination of 2 company names that could absolutely merge together. The crazy thing? That word is not already a registered trademark or web domain name. I'm not saying I'm definitely going to- but I might buy it.
  • Explorer based cop cars look really cool. That is something I thought I would never say.
Very oddly uniform patterns on this fresh beaver dam work. Honestly I am not sure of the how and why it came out like that.

You can tell the deer track to the left is at most hours old by the loose material surrounding it and the sharply defined appearance. The dog track to the right is at least a day old but probably not much older.
Tracks in the mud especially if the animal is running will be distorted making the print look easily two to three times the size of the animals actual foot.

  • Unless my recall is incorrect- when I was a kid Pepsi was sort of an off-brand soda and you could buy them a lot cheaper than Coca-Cola.

'Til Tuesday

  • When I read someones profile and they describe themselves as, "son, brother, husband and father" I feel tired all over and presume an impending religious whippin'.
  • Feel a most always come out fell on here.
  • My foreign born patients often presume I am a doctor. Also often, they cannot comprehend me being a nurse even after it is explained to them as- girls are nurses and boys are doctors.
  • I think more often than not I get the use of somebody verses someone right but I cannot tell you the rule for the use of those words in a sentence.
  • An ex always thought she could do better than me. I am correct in that assessment as-essentially as she told me as much.
  • She in fact- did not do better.
  • The preceding was not a judgement, or me nursing a grudge- it is just a stament of a fact.
